Villa MT
Light, shadows, vistas
LOCATION. nové mesto nad váhom, slovakia
GROSS FLOOR AREA. 315sqm
YEAR. 2021
The villa consists of two main volumes – a garage and a living area connected through third volume – an entrance with a hallway and a kitchen bay. A significant architectural element is the roof slab itself. The compositional play, where at times the slab is embedded in the volume, at other times it is supported by a travertine wall or lightened by a large skylight, pays tribute to the works of Mies Van der Rohe and Richard Neutra. The cantilevered roof slab connects all villa’s volumes, creates protected outdoor spaces and gives the house pronounced horizontality.
Single-story family villa with carefully created composition of volumes generating attractive visual connections and views between individual functional zones.
Despite only few window openings but with its changing depth, play of shadows and views. we were able to achieve an engaging result with the street facade . The back, garden part of the villa, is entirely open with a sliding glazed facade with the roof slab floating above. Along with receiving the solar gains, the house can also prevent unwanted overheating thanks to the significant roof slab overhangs. These overhangs in combination with the glazed facade and the attached terrace generate another attractive space, increasing the living area of the interior, especially during warm days.
